The Regeneration Project has awarded NMIPL a challenge grant of $15,000 for 2011.
Matching the challenge
grant in full will result in a total of $30,000, which will enable us
to provide expanded assistance to our member faith communities.
We invite your tax-deductible contributions to
NMIPL.
Checks should be made payable to New Mexico Interfaith Power and Light.
Mail to NMIPL at PO Box
27162, Albuquerque, NM 87125-7162.
You may also designate NMIPL in your United Way donation.
NMIPL welcomes membership
from churches, synagogues, temples, mosques and other faith communities,
or from committees or groups within those bodies. To join, please pledge
to do one or more of the following:
- Educate your members about their responsibility as people of faith
to be better stewards of the environment and to take immediate steps
to counteract global warming
- Arrange
for an energy audit of your building
- Based on the energy audit, make changes and improvements to improve energy
efficiency and conservation
- Utilize renewable energy wherever possible — e.g., subscribe to the
maximum percentage of wind power available through PNM's Blue Sky
program, install solar panels, etc.
- Look for ways to compensate for greenhouse gas emissions that cannot be
reduced further by purchasing Green Tags or energy credits
- Encourage your members to advocate for public policies that reduce the threat
of global warming
Benefits of NMIPL membership
include access to a variety of educational resources, the opportunity
to network with other congregations committed to energy efficiency and
energy conservation, and the possibility of qualifying for financial
assistance to faith communities who need help in making the transition
to energy-saving policies and practices. Further, NMIPL unites faith
communities in a powerful and urgent call to action that may help persuade
our fellow citizens and our leaders to make sustainable, renewable energy
a national priority.
New NMIPL members will receive a copy of Sally Bingham's book, LOVE GOD HEAL EARTH. NMIPL member congregations are asked to pay an annual
fee of $50 and to report yearly describing their progress in fulfilling
their pledges.
