Pilgrimage Day 21: Held by the Ancient Earth

Blessed by friends walking with us north of Moriarty! Camping under a full moon in junipers, reminded that earth's beauty sustains us. Journeying with the Sandias in the west, we carry the strength of this ancient land.

So blessed to have many friends join today as we walked north of Moriarty! Jeff and Alice, Clara’s brother, sister in law, (along with their puppy Blueberry) delivered her back to the trail. Eddie, Selby, and Christian also joined - their lovely company made the miles feel light!

Tonight we are tucked away among a beautiful grove of juniper trees, watching the glory of sister moon rise in her fullness. These moments of witnessing the expansive and abiding beauty of our world are a balm for the soul and much needed in these times of heartache for our earth and her people’s.

Our dear friend and colleague, Betsy Diaz, wrote a gorgeous poem for the pilgrims called “Ode to Sandia Mountains.” These next days we will be walking with the Sandias framing our western horizon and we know that our strength is not ours alone, but the life and spirit and resilience of this precious, ancient earth holding us up, carrying us forward.
