Our Core Belief is that the Active Care of the Natural World is Integral to Spiritual Life and Social Justice
New Mexico Interfaith Power & Light works for climate justice by mobilizing faith communities, faith leaders and people of faith to reduce the causes and consequences of global climate change through religious inspiration, education, outreach, implementation of sustainable practices and advocating effective climate protection policies.
We are blessed to be a large interfaith community of love in action in New Mexico. Every voice is important.
Thank You for Signing Our Petition!
To Help us plug dangerous pipeline leaks!
We obtained 385 signatures from folks in New Mexico, El Paso and a few other locations around the country. Your signatures will be added to hundreds of others from around the country and will be delivered to Secretary Pete Buttigieg on Monday, April 29.
“We are writing as faith leaders and people of faith and conscience who know how important it is to care for one another. The health and safety of our neighbors, wherever they live, is very important. Analysis shows that U.S. natural gas pipelines leak as much as 2.7 million tons of methane into our atmosphere each year. That’s the same impact as roughly 50 million passenger cars!”
In addition to the petition, we have reached out to the DOT in other ways. Watch a video from IPL NM/EP board co-chair Ruth Striegel
Donate $100 and get an IPL t-shirt
Our associate executive director Clara Sims designed these shirts for Earth Day with a message for all of us: “We Are Earth: Love, grace, and justice guide our steps into the future.” We hope you are inspired to carry these words with you this season.
